Burnt Out

oil on hardboard 6" x 6"

I haven't done an oil painting for quite awhile
and did this one as a daily painters challenge
of zippo lighters. The only colors we could use
was ultramarine blue, burnt sienna, and white.
The hardest part was painting in those air vent
in the lighter, had to redo them three times
before I was ok with it.
Also working on two watercolors when I have time.

This is a great exercise with a limited palette. I love the range of colours that so few colours can provide.

I tried my hand at this challenge also and thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is beautifully painted, excellent the contrast of light/shadow.

excellent response to the challenge susan! beautifully done! and you are so right, we learn so much from challenges that we ordinarily wouldn't gravitate to.
