A few examples of my Grt. Grandmother's paintings, as from the post below. These were painted between 1882-1883 in Napa Valley, Ca. These are from the note cards and much larger paintings are in pocession of various relatives.
I believe in the first image that lovely yellow flower with the variegated center is a Butterfly Mariposa Lily. I like how the bouquets include what are considered "weeds" and that her eye and brush were as delicate as her subject. It is wonderful that not only does the family posess some of the originals, clearly the family is still in posession of the talent.
What a wonderful find, Susan! Not only was your grandmother talented but an interesting person as well. Loved the bit about her taking up with a Presbyterian minister seventeen years her junior when her first husband died! A lady after my own heart! :)

Nancy- Thanks! I checked the facts and it was Sophie's mother who was 14 yrs younger than her second husband who she married when she arrived in San Francisco from Sweden.
