Joanne Thompson

Decided I better give some recognition to
the other side of the family for their art
talent. My aunt, Joanne Thompson, (1923-2002)
was asked to feature her art work in one of the
Walter T. Foster drawing booklet in the 1960's.
She loved to draw family members in charcoal
and painted many portraits in oil. These are
some examples of the drawings in the booklet.
In my younger years I tried to draw some of
her drawings free hand with little success.
Always shyed away from portraits, but now
love to paint portraits and figures.

Your talent is obvious - what beautiful work. Forty two years ago, I was lucky enough to purchase 3 lithographs by you mother, which still hang in my home.

Susan, I would love to know a little bio of your aunt. She was so talented. I have a litho copy of "Boys at Play" that my father swore looked just like me and my brother at that age! Where did she receive her art training? Does the 1960s drawing book have a little bio of her? Thanks, Rusty in SC

Hi, I just have a couple questions. We received a couple prints by Joanne Thompson. One is a painting with a violin/bow, set of round glasses and what looks like a very tattered music book. On the back it has written "All reproduction rights reserved by artist Joanne Thompson(signed) Huntington Beach, Calif. 1976. Then the other one is a picture(poster like) of beautiful pinks, purples & white flowers in a white vase #119/750. Is there any way you can find a value on these or would you be interested in them? Thank you so much for any info you can find on these.

Thanks,
Sheri

Joanne was the original owner of my home in Scottsdale, AZ. I would love to know more about her and her artwork. Any photos from her years living in this house would be appreciated. Thanks!

I was looking to acquire inexpensive frames. My local art gallery mentioned a man came in the gallery to get rid of his mother's art for the taking. Since he lives in Peru he just wanted to empty the house to sell. I came across the boy in front of the bike and the little girl holding the dog. Are these prints of any value as I would hate to toss them for the frames if they are. Thank you.
