Experimenting with fluid acrylics on yupo
synthetic paper. This paper is very smooth
and like plastic. I liked the watery effect
from the paints on this paper and the ability
to add several layers of color.

This is the second attempt of a photograph of
Alexandra Kitchin, the beautiful model of
Lewis Carrol, who wrote "Alice in Wonder-
land. She was his favorite model to photograph
in the 1870's.

"Yuri's Son"

This boy lives in Israel and his father is
a photographer. I was attracted to his
beautiful green eyes and the stubborn
determination conveyed in the photo.

This painting I did for my daughter who
loves Volkswagon Vans. She has always
wanted to buy one, add shag carpet, and
go on a road trip with her girlfriends.
Pinchalo is a nickname for these vans,
which the kids started as a road trip game;
counting to see who would end up with
the most counted.

Taking A Break

No paintings for today.

Yesterday while enjoying a lemonade
outside a downtown cafe, my daughter
and I noticed a book on a planter that
someone had forgotten.......title of the
book was..... "Left Behind".

This painting was a work in progress, it was
started at the time of the Katrina Hurricane
in the Gulf of Mexico when I needed something
cheery to paint. I finally pulled it
out and finished it.

This is from a reference photo of
Greenough Park as the evening
sun was shining through the trees.
May redo this painting and add more
colors and depth.

This is my 5th attempt at oil painting.
Hope to develop a more impressionistic
style as I acquire more skill in oils.

"My First Oil Painting"

This is my first oil painting I did when
I was about 11 yrs. old. I was trying to
figure out how oil painters could get the
paints to blend together so well without
having sharp edges between the various
colors and make it look natural. As a
youth I did some paint by number kits
and hated the outcome of the
paintings. Then one day I had an
epiphany...just try blending the two
colors side by side with a brush for a
smoother more blended look. I had
no canvas, so I painted clear nail polish
on card stock paper and this is the result.
The painting held up fairly well for 44 yrs.

"A Happy Soul"

This painting was just accepted into
the Montana Watercolor Society Show
that will be held this fall in Bigfork, Mt.
The paintings will be on display in Oct at the
Bigfork Art and Cultural Center.

"Ingrid"

This painting is of a friend who was born in
Germany and is one of the happiest
people I know. On the day I took
pictures of her, she was worried about
her husband who was in treatment for
an illness. The concern for her husband
came through the expressions on her face
in most of the pictures, but I decided to go
ahead and paint her anyway. Hope to do
more of her soon.

"First To Bloom"

A painting I intended to do last
April while we were having so many
cold, gray days this spring. Experimenting
with the suede matte board and trying
to learn the characteristics of this surface
when applying the pastel.
